21C School Libraries - Getting into the action

A one day seminar with Dr Ross J Todd & Lyn Hay

Does your school library meet 21C visions? What actions do you need to take to ensure it meets 21C learners' needs? Drawing on a cutting edge Australian and international research, this seminar will overview visions and implications, exploring aspects of 21C pedagogies for creating critically-literate digital citizens. It will emphasise the importance of evidence based practice, and provide participants examples and strategies.

Seminar participants will gain:

  • an appreciation of vision and actions required for 21C school libraries
  • strategies to ensure their school libraries are flexible, dynamic, high-tech 21C learning centres that prepare students to be critically literate digital citizens functioning effectively in an increasingly complex informational and technological world
  • enhanced understanding of 21C pedagogies and digital literacies relevant to school libraries
  • an understanding of and commitment to evidence based practice
  • practical strategies for implementing evidence based practice, including action research and a guided inquiry approach

This seminar is designed for:

  • Primary and Secondary teacher-librarians and teachers.
  • Supervisors or colleagues who will be partners in the implementation of Guided Inquiry.
  • Members of school executive teams (eg. curriculum coordinators, head teachers or teaching and learning, 
  • principals) and other educational personnel for whom the content and approach is of interest.
